What can Whishlist Hub do?
- Show a favorite button on product detail pages and collection pages, and a heart on product cards and collection cards.
- Let customers save both individual products and whole collections as favorites.
- Let customers save favorites without logging in. Their favorites move to their account automatically after they log in.
- Add a "Favorites" page to new customer accounts, where customers can view and remove their favorites.
- Change how the button looks from the app admin, without editing theme code.
Four steps to show favorites in your store
- Add the "Favorite button" block to the product pageIn the setup guide, click "Add in theme editor" to add the block to your product page template.
- Add the "Collection favorite" block to the collection pageAgain, click "Add in theme editor" to add it to your collection page template.
- Turn on "Hearts on cards" in App embedsClick "Open app embeds" and turn it on. A heart appears in the top right corner of product cards and collection cards.
- Add the "Favorites" page to the customer account menuClick "Open customer account editor" to add it. This requires new customer accounts.
You can open the setup guide at any time from "Setup guide" in the app navigation, or from "Open setup guide" on the dashboard.
What do I need to use the customer account page?
The "Favorites" page only appears in Shopify's new customer accounts. Stores that use the older login method (legacy customer accounts) can't use the account page. The favorite buttons on your storefront work with either method.
What should I check before going live?
- Buttons and hearts appear on product pages, collection pages, and cards
- They look right and respond correctly when tapped or clicked, on both phones and computers
- When you log in with a test account, the favorites you added appear on the account page
- Favorites added while logged out move to the account after you log in
- The button text and colors fit the look of your store
Common issues for first-time users
- I added the blocks, but no hearts appear on cards
- Hearts on cards are not a block. You turn them on with "Hearts on cards" in App embeds. Also check that "Show hearts on product and collection cards" is on in Appearance. Depending on how your theme builds its cards, hearts may not appear on some cards.
- The button doesn't appear on some collection pages
- On pages where the app can't identify a specific collection or product, such as the page that shows all products (/collections/all), the block is designed not to appear. This is not a bug.
- "Favorites" doesn't appear on the customer account page
- You need both: new customer accounts, and the "Favorites" page added to the menu in the customer account editor. In stores that use legacy customer accounts, the account page doesn't appear.
- I can't change the button color or text, or my changes don't show
- Changing the color, shape, and label text is available on the Basic plan or higher. After making changes, click "Save" in Appearance. If "Follow app settings" is turned off in the product page block, the block's own settings take priority. You can only edit the label text for the language your app admin is currently shown in, so to edit text for an English storefront, switch the admin to English first.
- Customers suddenly can't add favorites on the Free plan
- On the Free plan, you can store up to 30 favorites in total across your whole store. When you reach 80% of the limit, a warning appears on the dashboard. Even after you reach the limit, saved favorites are not deleted, and customers can still view and remove them.
- Favorites from logged-out customers disappear
- Favorites saved while logged out are stored in the customer's browser and are deleted after 30 days at most. In Safari and some other browsers, they may disappear sooner. To keep favorites reliably, ask customers to log in. For details, see "How favorites work for customers who aren't logged in".
For other problems, see "Favorites not showing or not saving: what to check".
