What's the difference between manual and automated lists?

Manual

Add staff one by one and reorder them with the up and down arrow buttons. The order you set is the display order.

Automated

Always shows staff who have the tags you specify. Set conditions as "Tag" "is equal to" or "is not equal to" a value, and combine multiple conditions with "Match all conditions" or "Match any condition". The list updates automatically whenever staff or lists are saved or deleted. Only published staff are included in automated lists.

How do I create a list?

  1. Open the staff list overviewOpen "Staff lists" in the left menu. You can see each list's name, whether it is manual or automated, the conditions for automated lists, and the number of staff.
  2. Select "Create list"Enter a list name.
  3. Choose the list typeFor a manual list, add staff with "Search staff by name to add". For an automated list, set conditions with "+ Add condition". For automated lists, the screen shows the number and names of matching staff.
  4. SaveWhen you save, the change is applied everywhere the list is used.

The list detail page shows an "ID", which you can copy with "Copy".

The list that's there from the start

When you install the app, an "All staff" list that includes everyone is created automatically. You can't change this list's name or type, and you can't delete it. When you delete any other list, a confirmation tells you that theme blocks using that list will no longer show anything. The staff list overview doesn't show which blocks use a list, so check in the theme editor before deleting.

How do I show a staff list in the theme editor?

  1. Open the theme editorChoose the page where you want to show it. You can also open it with "Open theme editor" on the Storefront page.
  2. Add the staff list blockChoose "Add section" > "Apps", then add "Staff list (home and other pages)".
  3. Choose the list to showChoose a list in "List to show" in the settings panel.
  4. Set the heading and other options, then saveThe settings are listed in the table below.

Each card shows the photo, name, height and weight, and location name. Selecting "Details" opens that staff member's detail page. Staff appear in the list's order. Change the number of columns and which fields are shown in the app's Design settings.

How do I adjust the look with the Design settings?

"Design" in the left menu applies to every app block in your theme.

ItemDetails
StylingText color and background color of the "Details" button. If left blank, your theme's settings are used.
LayoutCorner radius for card borders, images, and buttons and badges; font size for the staff list page heading and the "Details" button; and the number of columns. Columns are set separately for the staff list, the snap gallery on staff detail pages, and staff snaps on product pages, for desktop (2 to 5 columns, default 4) and mobile (1 to 3 columns, default 2).
"Fields to display"Turn name, height, weight and location name on or off.

After you set it up

You only need to place blocks in the theme editor once. When you change who is in a list, the change appears on every page that uses that list. You can use the same list on multiple pages, so you don't need to edit your theme when staff join or leave.
