3 ways to assign
Click "Article assignments" in the left menu to open the assignment screen. On this screen, you switch between supervisor and author to set each one. A blog is a group of articles, like a category. By default, your store has a blog called News. There are 3 ways to assign:
- Per article
- This is "Set per article" on the screen. You override or clear the person for one article at a time. You can search articles by title, and they are shown 25 at a time, newest publish date first. Choosing "Not set" clears the per-article setting, and articles using the blog's default show "using blog default". You can also change individual articles after a bulk setting. Available on every plan.
- Per blog
- This is "Assign per blog (category)" on the screen. It sets the same person for every article in the selected blog and becomes that blog's default. Available on the Standard plan or higher.
- All articles
- This is "Assign to ALL articles" on the screen. It sets the same person for every blog post in your store and rewrites the default of every blog at once. Available on the Standard plan or higher.
On the Free plan, the bulk setting areas show "Available on the Standard plan". Each article can have up to 1 supervisor and 1 author.
Which setting takes priority?
- Per-article settingIf the article has a per-article setting, that person is shown.
- Bulk setting per blog or for all articlesArticles without a per-article setting show the default person. At the same level, the setting run later takes priority.
- No settingIf neither exists, no profile is shown.
What to check before running a bulk setting
Running a bulk setting for all articles or per blog overwrites the per-article settings within that scope. If you want to keep per-article settings, don't run the bulk setting again. Use re-sync to reflect new articles.
